Candlelit Taize Communion at Bishop Thornton - Sunday 27th March, 6.30pm, at Bishop Thornton
A gentle candlelit service to end the day; a mixture of meditative silence, chants, readings, and communion with an opportunity to light a candle for our loved ones, as on this day we remember the resurrection to eternal life.

Friday 15th April, 8.30am, at Morton Park, Darlington: Foundation Course - Church Treasurers
Foundation Training Course for Church Treasurers run by ACAT - the Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers  Primarily for Church Treasurers whose annual income is under £250,000. Friday 15 April 2016, 9.30 - 4.00pm at Morton Park Business Training Centre, Darlington  Cost:£45. An introduction to all the issues a Treasurer might meet. It is aimed primarily at new and inexperienced treasurers, however even experienced treasurers have found the course very helpful. It includes the following topics: Role of the Treasurer; Legal and Financial Overview; Budgeting: Principles of Charity accounting; Systems, Records and IT; Employment; Gift Aid and GASDS; Year-end Routines; VAT and LPWGS. Sunday 17th April, 2.00pm, at St John's Church, Sharow: Lay Eucharistic Minister Training
This event is for all who have in the past year received letters from Bishop Nick to be licensed, or re-licensed to administer at the Eucharist or to take out communion to people in the community. The event looks at good practice in our ministry; as well as giving us space to consider and reflect on God's calling to us to share in his Kingdom and to exercise this ministry in his name.

Monday 18th April, 9.00am, at Parcevall Hall: Open Quiet Day - 10:00am - 4:00pm April 18 at Parcevall Hall Leader: Rev David Bruno A Quiet Day with a difference.  Personal reflections in diverse situations and places where encounters with people have enriched life and helped one to see God in His Church and in His world. David Bruno has served as a priest in four Anglican Provinces, including as Dean of Windhoek, Namibia. He is currently Bishop's Officer for Retired Clergy and Widows in the Ripon Episcopal Area. A Festival of Flowers, Music, Spirituality, Food & Drink Ripon Cathedral has announced advanced plans for an innovative new festival to be held over the Mayday bank holiday weekend, 2016. Jazz, talks, guided tours, plays, spirituality, choral music, floral displays, food and drink will be some of the ingredients at Ripon Cathedral Revealed, a major cathedral festival next year which will showcase the wide variety of Cathedral life with a host of different events. Ripon Cathedral Revealed will run from Thursday 28th of April to Monday 2nd of May 2016 beginning on the Thursday with a  preview evening of jazz, wine and canapés and the opportunity for guests to have an advanced view of the 'stunning' flower festival which will be on show throughout the weekend. The Dean of Ripon, the Very Revd John Dobson said, "This new Cathedral Festival will celebrate the place of Ripon Cathedral  in the region it serves and we look forward to welcoming  families, friends and visitors to enjoy its rich heritage as well as the beautiful surroundings of Ripon itself. "The whole festival weekend will offer a variety of activities including a food festival on the Friday and Saturday, children's entertainment, concerts, live music, white rose workshops, behind the scenes with the Choir, Bell Tower Tours, finishing off with our well known Beer Festival in the Cathedral grounds on May day bank holiday Monday." A running feature of the weekend will be a  food festival with stalls selling a wide variety of hot and cold food, exhibiting and selling everything from ale, pies and pizzas to seafood, sweets and sausages. Other highlights in the provisional programme include embroidery display and workshops, drama with Terrible Tales of Ripon, behind the scenes with the choir , a carousel on forecourt, bell tower tours, spirituality and history talks, a charity exhibition and the now traditional Bank Holiday Monday Beer festival on May 2nd.
