Saturday 30th April, 9.00am, at Ripon Cathedral: Ripon Cathedral Revealed. A Festival of Flowers, Music, Spirituality, Food & Drink Saturday 30 April, 10am - 4pm. Ripon Cathedral has plans for an innovative new festival to be held over the Mayday bank holiday weekend, 2016. Jazz, talks, guided tours, plays, spirituality, choral music, floral displays, food and drink will be just some of the ingredients at Ripon Cathedral Revealed, a major cathedral festival next year which will showcase the wide variety of Cathedral life with a host of different events. Ripon Cathedral Revealed will run from Thursday 28th of April to Monday 2nd of May 2016 beginning on the Thursday with a  preview evening of jazz, wine and canapés and the opportunity for guests to have an advanced view of the 'stunning' flower festival which will be on show throughout the weekend. The Dean of Ripon, the Very Revd John Dobson said, "This new Cathedral Festival will celebrate the place of Ripon Cathedral  in the region it serves and we look forward to welcoming  families, friends and visitors to enjoy its rich heritage as well as the beautiful surroundings of Ripon itself. "The whole festival weekend will offer a variety of activities including a food festival on the Friday and Saturday, children's entertainment, concerts, live music, white rose workshops, behind the scenes with the Choir, Bell Tower Tours, finishing off with our well known Beer Festival in the Cathedral grounds on May day bank holiday Monday." A running feature of the weekend will be a  food festival with stalls selling a wide variety of hot and cold food, exhibiting and selling everything from ale, pies and pizzas to seafood, sweets and sausages. Other highlights in the provisional programme include embroidery display and workshops, drama with Terrible Tales of Ripon, behind the scenes with the choir , a carousel on forecourt, bell tower tours, spirituality and history talks, a charity exhibition and the now traditional Bank Holiday Monday Beer festival on May 2nd. Ingleborough Team of Churches Pilgrimage Saturday April 30th, Sunday May 1st, and Monday May 2nd 10am-4pm  Come and join us for a unique opportunity to walk, drive or cycle between the churches of Bentham, Ingleton, Chapel-le-Dale, Burton and Thornton. Maps and plans, refreshments, displays, activities, personal prayer labyrinth and flowers will be available on each of the three days. You can choose to walk, cycle or drive starting and finishing as you wish.

Saturday 7th May, 9.00am, at St Oswald's, Askrigg: Gregorian chant workshop at St Oswald's Askrigg
Gregorian Chant at St Oswald's, Askrigg The fourth Gregorian Chant workshop will take place at St Oswald's Church, Askrigg on Saturday 7th May from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, ending with a service of Vespers.  As usual, the musical director will be Philip Duffy, Associate Director of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge and former Choirmaster of Liverpool Roman Catholic Cathedral.  The music will be that for Ascension Day.  No previous experience is required – we even have people participating who do not read music very well, but who manage and thoroughly enjoy the day! Tuesday 10th May, 3.00pm, at Parcevall Hall: Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer Retreat
Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer Retreat starting at 4pm on May 10 - May 12 at Parcevall Hall Rebirth and Renewal.  Witness: Canon Brenda Lofthouse This is a retreat that enjoys silence from Compline on the first evening until lunch on the day of departure. Within this the Witness will lead the group in guided  sessions of contemplation based around a selection of Dominical sayings. The retreat will follow a pattern including Grace, Compline, Morning Prayer and  Eucharist. It is also a practice for Retreatants to bring a couple of books for others to enjoy during the retreat. Gregorian Chant at St Oswald's, Askrigg The fourth Gregorian Chant workshop will take place at St Oswald's Church, Askrigg on Saturday 7th May from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, ending with a service of Vespers.  As usual, the musical director will be Philip Duffy, Associate Director of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge and former Choirmaster of Liverpool Roman Catholic Cathedral.  The music will be that for Ascension Day.  No previous experience is required – we even have people participating who do not read music very well, but who manage and thoroughly enjoy the day! Gregorian Chant at St Oswald's, Askrigg The fourth Gregorian Chant workshop will take place at St Oswald's Church, Askrigg on Saturday 7th May from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, ending with a service of Vespers.  As usual, the musical director will be Philip Duffy, Associate Director of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge and former Choirmaster of Liverpool Roman Catholic Cathedral.  The music will be that for Ascension Day.  No previous experience is required – we even have people participating who do not read music very well, but who manage and thoroughly enjoy the day!
